Musk Launches New AI Chatbot

Elon Musk announced the launch of a new AI chatbot on Saturday…

The newest player in the space goes by the name “Grok” and is supposedly modeled after the “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” science fiction books.

With how many AI chatbots already exist, one should ask what unique aspects Elon’s offering brings to the table…

For one thing, the differing censorship philosophies between X and other social media platforms will likely apply here.

It seems that Grok will be programmed to answer questions that most other big tech companies have labeled as too controversial.

I expect the culture war between the X userbase and mainstream social media to extend to chatbots as well.

I see censorship as more of an auxiliary difference though…

The main differentiating factor is that Grok will have access to real-time data from the X platform itself. Even a model as advanced as Chat-GPT 4 uses outdated information at this point… This may not matter if one is looking for a pumpkin pie recipe, but if it’s related to current events then it will make a big difference! Grok is still in the beta stage though so it’s likely not as advanced as some other chatbots at this point. With that said, I think there’s a lot of potential here. If the data from X ends up being relevant and useful then this could make the platform as a whole more valuable…

It could put the company in an interesting situation where they can sell their information to other third parties.

Not to mention that Musk could easily charge X users a monthly fee for using their chatbot…

That’s all for now.

Until Next Time,
